My Coffee Table Update + 5 Coffee Table Styling Essentials
This month marks 5 years that I’ve lived in my LA studio and man has it gone through some changes! It’s been about three years since I purchased my last coffee table, so I decided it was time to elevate my living area with a new coffee table that represented my current Aesthetic and style. Of course, there was tons of research, store visits, and reading of countless reviews, prior to making my final decision ( 2 months to be exact), but I finally landed on the style that I wanted. from there it came down to two choices and if you know me, you should know that price and quality played a major part in the decision. After seeing tons of photos of coffee tables, beautifully curated with a mix of coffee table books and home decor accents, I knew I wanted a table that would show off my love for design and curating.
My mind was set on this mid-century modern display coffee table from West Elm, but my budget wasn’t quite sold on the price. Now don’t get me wrong, I love West Elm!!
Fun Fact : I actually used to work there in college and post college for a little.
Since I was determined not to spend $399 on the table from West Elm, I decided to go on the hunt for a “dupe”, as the fashion/beauty influencers say. After endless searching and scrolling I came across a table on WayFair, that looked just like the one from West Elm, but for half the price.
Now, I’m always a little leery of buying furniture site unseen, so after reading the reviews and seeing pictures of it in customer’s homes, I finally bit the bullet and ordered the table. It literally arrived in two days and took me about an hour to put together. Technically it shouldn’t have taken me that long, but I was on the phone with a friend and realize that I had put the legs on wrong and had to start all over SMH.
After putting it together and being very pleased with how it turned out, it was time to for the fun part…styling!
Since I already had the essentials for coffee table styling I didn’t really have to buy much. However, I did purchase a new coffee table book that I had Been eyeing for a while, “The House that Pinterest Built” by Diane Keaton.

And because I couldn’t just stop with the coffee table, I decided to switch out my rug, for the fourth time since I’ve lived here. (I know.. I know… that’s a lot) It’s crazy to think that with just a few small changes, it literally feels like a whole new space!
