5 Table Setting Essentials for Thanksgiving Dinner
With Thanksgiving just a little over a week away, it’s time to jump into host mode! This could be up for debate, but to me Thanksgiving is just as much about the table decor as it is about the food. I mean what's a great meal without a beautifully set table to match? Seeing as I'll be taking a break from the kitchen, this year, I figured I'd put a little more focus on the decor! So before your guests have a seat at the table, make sure you've got all the essentials to create a table setting that will be just as memorable as the meal you worked all day to create!
There are some things that are just non-negotiables, when it comes to setting a table and it starts with the following essentials,
1. Flatware
When it comes to flatware, I prefer to go with gold or rose gold, as it gives the table an extra pop of shine and makes things feel a little more festive!
2. Plates/Serveware
Call me cheesy but I love a salad plate or platter that sets the occasion, like these “Thankful” platters from Target. Incorporating decorative and seasonal salad plates and/or platters with your existing place settings is a great and cost effective alternative to buying new plates for every occasion.
It’s also important to have make sure you have enough serving dishes for each dish. Aluminum pans on the table are a huge pet peeve of mine (sorry, not sorry)
3.Glass/Stemware
It’s ok if you don’t have the proper glass for each type of wine, as long as you keep the wine and the laughs flowing, I don’t think anyone will notice.
4.Table Linens
Cloth napkins, table cloths, table runners, place mats… Here’s where you can really get creative with colors and textures ! I personally like to work with a neutral palette when and accessorize with a fun napkin ring or a floral stem of some sort.
5. The Centerpiece
Last but not least, comprised of candles, florals, pumpkins, and other accessories, the centerpiece is what pulls the table all together and brings on all of the oos and ahs.
